Profound alternatives: the trackers you can buy without a sales call
Short answer
The cheapest alternative is Otterly AI at $29 a month. The closest like-for-like on self-serve terms is Peec AI from $95. Teams that also want site audits and several brand workspaces should look at Scrunch at $250. If you already pay for Ahrefs, Semrush, Surfer or Moz Pro, check what your plan already includes before adding anything: Ahrefs bundles prompt tracking into every paid plan. Stay on Profound if you need nine answer engines, SOC 2 and its content agents.
People look for Profound alternatives for one reason above all others: you can no longer just buy it. Profound's pricing page lists a free 7-day trial, which runs 50 prompts a day across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, and then a custom Enterprise plan. The $99 and $399 monthly tiers that still fill most "best GEO tools" roundups are not on sale anymore.
That makes this a budget and procurement question more than a feature one. Below are the tools that publish a price, what each one actually gives you at the entry level, and the cases where staying with Profound is still the right answer.

Entry plans on monthly billing unless noted, checked against each vendor's pricing page in September 2026. Prices are shown by region: Peec lists EUR 85 in the EU for the same Starter plan, and Surfer lists its plans in euros. Ahrefs also sells a separate AI Visibility Index add-on, priced well above the bundled Custom Prompts allowance.
The cheapest alternative: Otterly AI
Otterly AI Lite is $29 a month, or $25 billed annually with its 15% annual discount. That buys 15 prompts tracked daily across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot, with Claude, Google AI Mode and Gemini available as paid add-ons, and unlimited team members even on the cheapest plan.
Fifteen prompts is a small set, so treat it as a way to watch the handful of questions that matter most to your business rather than a full research program. Standard at $189 and Premium at $489 raise that to 100 and 400 prompts. The two cheapest self-serve trackers are compared directly in Otterly AI vs Peec AI.
The closest like-for-like: Peec AI
Peec AI is the tool most people end up comparing with Profound, and the only one of the two you can buy with a card. Starter is $95 a month for 50 prompts tracked daily across three models you choose, with unlimited users on every plan. Pro is $245 for 150 prompts and Advanced $495 for 350, adding Looker Studio reporting.
Where Profound bundles prompt demand data and content agents, Peec stays closer to measurement: visibility, position, sentiment, share of voice and the sources AI answers cite. The full side by side is in Peec AI vs Profound.
For agencies and multi-brand teams: Scrunch
Scrunch Core is $250 a month: 125 prompts, five site audits a month, one brand workspace and five user licenses, tracking ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Copilot, with a 7-day free trial. Its Enterprise tier adds nine models, API access, SSO and more workspaces, which is the closest structural match to how Profound sells.
The site audit side is what separates it from pure trackers: it reports on how AI crawlers consume your pages, not only on what the answers say.
If you already pay for an SEO suite
This is the option most people skip, and it is often the cheapest one.
- Ahrefs Brand Radar. Custom Prompts tracking is included in paid Ahrefs plans: 5 prompts on Lite, 10 on Standard, 20 on Advanced, across AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot. A separate AI Visibility Index add-on exists for larger volumes.
- Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit. $99 a month per domain on annual billing, covering one domain and 25 prompts, with no free trial. Extra domains and extra seats each cost the same again, so the price climbs quickly for agencies. It is also bundled into the Semrush One packages.
- Surfer AI Search Analytics. Sold as its own plan at EUR 98 a month, or EUR 82 billed annually.
- Moz Pro. Its AI visibility dashboard comes with the Standard plan at $99 a month rather than as an add-on.
Full pricing for all of these, including what each one tracks, is in the AI visibility tools guide.
Check for free first
Before paying anyone, run the manual checks and no-signup tools in free ways to check your AI visibility. Profound's own 7-day trial belongs in that list too: 50 prompts a day for a week is a genuine sample, and nothing stops you using it to decide whether tracking is worth a subscription at all.
Who should stay on Profound
- You need coverage of up to nine answer engines, in several languages and regions.
- Security review matters: SSO with SAML and SOC 2 come with its Enterprise tier.
- You use its AI Marketer to turn tracking into briefs and drafts, which none of the cheaper trackers do.
- Prompt demand data, drawn from large samples of real AI conversations, is part of how you pick topics.
- An annual contract and a procurement process are normal for your company anyway.

None of these write the content
Every tool on this page measures. They tell you which prompts you appear in, which sources AI answers cite, and where competitors beat you. Acting on that means publishing pages worth citing, and that work sits outside all of them except Profound's Enterprise agents.
GrowGanic is the production side of the same problem. It is an autonomous SEO engine: add a domain and it researches the keywords, writes and scores the articles, publishes them to your site or a hosted blog, and tracks the rankings. On a paid plan it publishes every weekday. It is not a dedicated AI visibility tracker, and has no backlink index, and, by GrowGanic's own account, the hosted copy of the free article stays out of Google until the plan is paid (connecting your site or a subdomain first avoids that), so it belongs next to a tracker from this page rather than instead of one. Try the free tier (affiliate link), which gives you one article with no card.

Frequently asked questions
Why is Profound no longer $99 a month?
Profound retired its self-serve paid plans. Its pricing page now lists a free 7-day trial, with 50 prompts run daily across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, and then a custom Enterprise plan. The $99 and $399 figures in most roundups describe the older structure.
What is the cheapest Profound alternative?
Otterly AI, at $29 a month on the Lite plan, or $25 billed annually. That covers 15 prompts tracked daily across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot, with unlimited team members.
Which alternative is closest to Profound?
Peec AI for most teams, since it covers the same tracking job with published self-serve prices from $95 a month. Scrunch is closer for organizations that also want site audits and workspaces for several brands, at $250 a month for its Core plan.
Do I need a dedicated tool if I already pay for Ahrefs or Semrush?
Often not at first. Ahrefs includes Custom Prompts tracking in its paid plans, with 5 prompts on Lite, 10 on Standard and 20 on Advanced. Semrush sells its AI Visibility Toolkit separately at $99 a month per domain on annual billing. Start with what your subscription already includes, and buy a dedicated platform when the prompt limits stop being enough.
