Peec AI alternatives: cheaper, free, and what each one actually covers

By Giovanni Rasulo Updated Prices checked September 2026

Short answer

The cheapest alternative is Otterly AI at $29 a month, though it tracks fewer prompts across four fixed engines rather than three you choose. There is no permanent free plan for any dedicated tracker, Peec included; the genuinely free options are no-signup checkers and asking ChatGPT the question yourself. For agencies wanting audits and several brand workspaces, Scrunch at $250 is closer than Peec. If you already pay for Ahrefs, Semrush, Surfer or Moz Pro, check what your plan already includes before adding anything.

Peec AI is one of the two self-serve platforms, alongside Profound, that come up most in AI visibility tracking, the category also sold as GEO or AEO: measuring how often, and how favorably, ChatGPT and the other assistants mention a brand when someone asks a question a search engine used to answer. Peec earns that reputation for a reason: unlimited users on every plan, source and citation analysis by domain and URL, and SKU-level tracking for AI shopping. None of that changes the fact that Starter costs $95 a month before you have tracked a single prompt, and that only three of six available models are included.

People search for a Peec alternative for three different reasons, and they lead to three different answers: the price is more than the budget allows, the free plan they expected does not exist, or the account already pays for a bigger platform that might already do this. Below is each one, on prices checked today.

Entry plans on monthly billing unless noted, checked against each vendor's own pricing page in September 2026. Peec shows prices by region: US dollars above, euros to EU visitors. Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit page shows a site-wide "7-day trial" banner that applies to Semrush generally, not a trial specific to this toolkit, so it is listed as not confirmed rather than assumed.

The cheapest alternative: Otterly AI

Otterly AI Lite is $29 a month, or $25 billed annually with its 15% annual discount, less than a third of Peec Starter. That buys 15 prompts tracked daily across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot, with unlimited team members on the cheapest plan. The trade is choice: Peec lets you pick which three of six models to track, Otterly fixes the four and sells Claude, Google AI Mode and Gemini as add-ons from $9 to $29 a month each.

Per tracked prompt the two are close, about $1.93 on Otterly Lite against $1.90 on Peec Starter, because Peec's 50 prompts cost more but cover over three times the volume. Otterly is the cheaper way in; Peec is the cheaper way to track a large prompt set. The full breakdown, including cost per AI answer at every tier, is in Otterly AI vs Peec AI.

Is there a free Peec AI alternative?

No dedicated tracker has a permanent free plan, Peec included, and that is true across this whole category. What exists instead:

  • Ahrefs' three no-signup checkers. AI Overviews Tracker, AI Mode Tracker and AI Visibility Checker each give a limited one-off snapshot, no account needed.
  • Asking the question yourself. Open ChatGPT or Perplexity and ask what a real customer would ask, not "tell me about [brand]." It costs nothing and answers the one question that matters before paying for anything: do you come up at all.
  • Free trials, not free tiers. Peec, Otterly and Scrunch all offer a trial, which is a way to test the product, not a way to track for free long term.

For agencies and multi-brand teams: Scrunch

Scrunch Core is $250 a month billed annually ($300 month-to-month): 125 prompts, five site audits a month, one brand workspace and five user licenses, tracking ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Copilot, with a 7-day free trial (its pricing page says no card, its trial FAQ says a card is required, so check at signup). Its Enterprise tier adds Claude, Gemini, Meta AI and Grok for nine models total, plus API access, SSO and more workspaces.

The site audit side is what separates it from Peec: it reports on how AI crawlers actually consume your pages, not only on what the answers say about your brand. That matters more for an agency proving AI-readiness work to several clients than for a single brand just watching where it stands.

If you already pay for an SEO suite

This is the option most people skip, and it is often the cheapest one.

  • Ahrefs Brand Radar. Custom Prompts tracking is included in paid Ahrefs plans: 5 prompts on Lite, 10 on Standard, 20 on Advanced, across AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot. A separate Custom Prompts add-on starts at $50 a month for volume beyond that, and a standalone AI Visibility Index starts at $199.
  • Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit. About $99 a month per domain on annual billing, covering 25 prompts across ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini and Perplexity. Extra domains cost the same again, so the price climbs quickly for agencies.
  • Surfer AI Search Analytics. Sold as its own plan at EUR 98 a month, or EUR 82 billed annually, tracking 50 prompts refreshed daily.
  • Moz Pro Standard. $99 a month ($79 billed annually) includes an AI Visibility Dashboard with 50 tracked prompts across four AI models, refreshed weekly rather than daily.

Full pricing for all of these, including what each one tracks and how it compares to a dedicated platform, is in the AI visibility tools guide.

Who should stay on Peec AI

  • You want source and citation analysis broken down by domain and URL, not just a visibility score.
  • You sell products and want AI shopping visibility tracked at SKU level.
  • Everyone on the team should have a login without a per-seat charge, and unlimited users matters more than the entry price.
  • You already track brand perception and recurring objections in Peec's reports, and rebuilding that history elsewhere has a real cost.
  • Fifty prompts on three models genuinely covers your prompt set; paying less elsewhere for fewer prompts is not actually cheaper for you.

None of these write the content

Every tool on this page measures. They tell you which prompts you appear in, which sources AI answers cite, and where competitors beat you. Acting on that means publishing pages worth citing, which sits outside every tool here.

GrowGanic is the production side of the same problem. It is an autonomous SEO engine: add a domain and it researches the keywords, writes and scores the articles, publishes them to your site or a hosted blog, and tracks the rankings. On a paid plan it publishes every weekday. It is not a dedicated AI visibility tracker, and has no backlink index, and, by GrowGanic's own account, the hosted copy of the free article stays out of Google until the plan is paid (connecting your site or a subdomain first avoids that), so it belongs next to a tracker from this page rather than instead of one. Try the free tier (affiliate link), which gives you one article with no card.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest Peec AI alternative?

Otterly AI Lite, at $29 a month or $25 billed annually. It tracks 15 prompts daily across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot, with unlimited team members. Peec Starter costs more, $95, but covers over three times the prompts on models you choose.

Is there a free Peec AI alternative?

Not a permanent free plan. Every self-serve platform on this page, Peec included, sells a subscription. What is genuinely free is Ahrefs' three no-signup checkers for a one-off snapshot, and asking ChatGPT or Perplexity the question a customer would ask, which costs nothing and needs no tool at all.

Which alternative is closest to Peec AI?

Otterly AI for most self-serve buyers, since it is the only other platform priced by tracked prompts with unlimited seats. Scrunch is closer for agencies that also want site audits and several brand workspaces, at $250 a month for its Core plan.

Do I need a dedicated tool if I already pay for Ahrefs, Semrush, Surfer or Moz?

Often not at first. Ahrefs includes Custom Prompts tracking in its paid plans, from 5 prompts on Lite to 20 on Advanced. Semrush sells an AI Visibility Toolkit at about $99 a month per domain. Surfer sells AI Search Analytics as its own plan. Moz Pro includes an AI visibility dashboard from its Standard tier. Start with what you already pay for, and add a dedicated platform once its limits stop being enough.
